Scott Rogers is founder and director of the University of Miami School of Law's Mindfulness in Law Program. As a member of the faculty, he teaches five mindfulness courses, including Mindfulness in Law, Mindful Ethics, Mindfulness and negotiation, Mindfulness and Motivating Business Compliance with the Law, and Mindful Leadership.

Professor Rogers co-directs UMindfulness, the University of Miami's Mindfulness Research and Practice Initiative where, for the last twelves years he has been collaborating on neuroscience research examining the efficacy of mindfulness training programs and practices.

Scott has practiced mindfulness and other contemplative and wellness practices for more than 30 years. His concentration on mindfulness is rooted in his belief that it offers one of the most effective means of encouraging meaningful inner work and growth, personally and professionally. Scott received his masters degree in social psychology and his law degree from the University of Florida, graduating summa cum laude.

Professor Rogers has been teaching mindfulness to legal professionals since 1999. In 2007, he conceived and presented the 10-hour workshop, "Mindfulness, Balance & The Lawyer's Brain, one of the first CLE programs in the country to integrate mindfulness, neuroscience and the practice of law.

His Jurisight program, offered to Miami Law 1L's continuously since 2008, introduces law students to mindfulness insights and practices during their exciting and challenging first semester of law school.

In 2005, Scott began working with educators, therapists, teaching mindfulness in the therapeutic context, and has offered Mindfulness Based-Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy workshops.

In 2011 Professor Rogers and Judge Alan Gold founded the Mindfulness in Law Joint Task Force of the Dade County Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association (South Florida Chapter). He is the 2012 recipient of the Sookie William's award for "Outstanding Service to the Legal Community," and serves on the Executive Committee of the Balance in Legal Education section of the Association of American Law Schools. Scott is a former member of the Board of Directors of "Mindful Kids Miami" and in 2018 was awarded its Mindfulness ambassador award. He is co-preseidnt of the Mindfulness in Law Society and on the Board of Advisors of "Warrior One."

Scott is a regular speaker at law schools and bar programs across the country. He has appeared on television, HuffPost Live, National Public Radio, and been interviewed for magazines and newspapers across the world. In 2009 Scott published “Mindfulness for Law Students: Applying the Power of Mindful Awareness to Achieve Balance and Success in Law School” and “The Six-Minute Solution: A Mindfulness Primer for Lawyers. In 2012 he co-authored "Mindfulness and Professional Responsibility: A Guidebook for Integrating Mindfulness into the Law School Curriculum."

He has published numerous law review articles on mindfulness and legal education, developed and delivered mindfulness trainings as part of published peer review scientific research articles, and written and co-authored chapters on mindfulness in law as well as the benefits of mindfulness practice in high stress professions. He lives in Miami Beach, Florida with his wife and two children.
